I graduated from Wittenberg University in
1965 and later received my Master's Degree from Akron University in 1969. I
started my coaching career at Wadsworth, Ohio, where I also taught sophomore
English for three years. After moving to coach at nearby Akron University for
two years, I accepted an offer to relocate in Kalamazoo, Michigan to become
Assistant Basketball Coach at Western Michigan University. After serving under
Eldon Miller from 1970-1976, I assumed the head basketball coaching position for
the Broncos. In 1979 I became the Athletic Director, Men's Basketball
Coach, and Golf Coach at KVCC, a position I have held for 24 years. I served for
ten years as President of the Michigan Community College
Athletic Association. I have been actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes for more than 35 years. My wife, Carol, and I have four daughters, Cherie
(36),
Teri (34), Mindi (28), Bridget (25), and one son, Ricky (21) and attend the First United
Methodist Church in Kalamazoo.
Special Educational Interests
My interests include running summer basketball camps
for young people ages 7-17, fishing, playing golf, reading, and serving as
advisor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' huddle at KVCC.
