Tryout Information
Open tryouts are held for spots on the KVCC Men's Basketball team.
Candidates should stop into the Athletic Office the first day of school in the fall
and sign in with current address and phone numbers.
The following items are required before trying out:
Students wishing to participate in men's basketball at KVCC must schedule their
classes so that they are free from 2:15-6:00 daily for practices.
Attend a meeting for all interested candidates soon after the start of the fall
semester. The time and date will be posted in the athletic office by the first
day of school.
Athletic insurance information forms may be picked up the first day of school or
earlier. All candidates are required to have this information on file in the athletic
training office before they may tryout for the team.
All candidates MUST have a participation physical on file also. Doctors will
come to KVCC on Wednesday of the first week of school in the
Fall to conduct these physicals. They will be given in rooms just
off the main gym. The physicals will begin at 6:00
PM. At this time, there is no cost to the student for this
physical. Any student missing this participation physical must get the form
from our athletic trainer and go to his/her own doctor to have the physical
performed. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT WITHOUT THE SIGNED INSURANCE INFORMATION
(BLUE SHEET) ON FILE OR WITHOUT A PRE-PARTICIPATION PHYSICAL.
After 3-4 weeks of school, each candidate will be required to take an Academic
Progress Report to each of his teachers. It is the responsibility of each
student to make sure his/her Progress Report is on file in the Athletic Office prior to
the start of practices. Any student not passing a minimum of 12 credit hours
will not be permitted to practice.
Open Gyms for the men run from 2:00-3:30 Monday through
Friday starting the day after physicals are given and running through the end of September.
Varsity practice starts October 1.
