Danaea Williams (Kalamazoo Central) dropped in a three-pointer at the end of regulation to send the Lady Cougars into overtime today.  After falling behind by 6 points in overtime, this determined Valley team rallied back to squeak out a thrilling 70-69 overtime win for their 31st win of the season.

With the 70-69 overtime victory over Glendale Community College from Arizona,  the KVCC Lady Cougars, who ended the regular season ranked No. 1 in the nation, improved their odds of winning a national championship.

The next opponent is Mitchell Community College of New London, Connecticut, on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Another victory puts the KVCC entry on course for a showdown against teams in a second of the four brackets.  One of them is Penn Valley Community College of Kansas City, Mo., which is ranked No. 2 in the nation.

If the Lady Cougars win that matchup at 6 p.m. Friday, they earn the chance to vie for the National Junior College Athletic Association Division 2 championship at 8 p.m. Saturday.
