Tradition of Academic excellence continues!
Known not only for excellence on the basketball floor, the Kalamazoo Valley
2005-06 team continued that tradition with an outstanding performance in the
classroom to add to the accomplishments on the hardwood that placed them 5th in
the National Tournament in Phoenix last March.
A very proud veteran coach Ron Welch
commented, "This was a very special group. Not only did they 'click'
on the court, but they were able to put together an outstanding performance
academically as well. They have been nominated to both the NJCAA and the
Women's Basketball Coaches Association for post season academic team awards.
We couldn't be any prouder of what they have done in both arenas."
The Lady Cougar's Team GPA for the year was a
sparkling 3.37. They were led by sophomore Academic All Americans Chelsea
Acker and Kortnie Matteson
(see following article).
