Lady Cougars keep pace with a solid road win. |
January 17, 2007 KVCC (77) vs. Lake Michigan College (53) in
Benton Harbor
A conference win - on the road
- 'nuff said. "Playing on the road in this conference can be full of
unexplained stuff, so for us to get a 24 point win at LMC is great."
explained
Coach Welch. "We put together a couple of significant runs and got
everybody (all players played) some good minutes plus had a good defensive team effort. We
talked about using our obvious size advantage and Kim Gear at 6'2" (15 points,
10 rebounds) and Kendra Kutz at 5'11"(14 points, 4 assists) responded.
Ever steady Charity Knight dropped in 12 points and had 4 steals for the Cougars
also. Kutz and Gear both played less than 20 minutes." The loss
kept the struggling host team without a win in conference play and the Cougars
tied for first with Muskegon at 4-1 in the league
League play continues on
Saturday as the
Cougars host the always dangerous Stars of Lansing Community College. Game time
is 1:00 pm at Cougar Arena. "Nicole Wallace and Latoya Leek were
conference All Stars last year and are great players." Commented the
Cougar coach. "Wallace had 30+ points against Grand Rapids on Wednesday
and Leek is a force to be reckoned with in the post. We'll have to play
well."
