Former 'Cougar Cager' becomes Cougar - for real...........

Anna Clark   5'4" Guard  Vicksburg HS

The Cougars continued to strengthen their perimeter with the signing of Vicksburg combo guard Anna Clark.  The 5'4" fiery guard battled thru having three different coaches in three years and continued to build her skills and maintain her enthusiasm for the game.  "Anna's been on our radar for several years."  said Cougar coach, Ron Welch.  "She's a very good shooter and I have records from our camps to show it.  She won her shooting station at every age group she was in and in addition was on a couple teams that won camp championships.  We're fortunate and pleased she's going to be a Cougar."       After a disappointing regular season for her team in her senior season, Anna and the rest of the Vicksburg Bulldogs rose up and surprised everyone with their first District championship in memory. Clark averaged 9.2 points  and almost 5 assists per game and led her team in steals at just under five a game as a senior.      We think that Anna is a real good player who kind of flew under the radar because of the lack of over-all success by her team." commented Welch.  "She could be a real surprise next year in the Western Conference. We're looking forward to working with her toward her goal of playing at a four year school."        In addition to her on court prowess, Clark is also a very good student. "We know there will be no problems with Anna in the classroom."  Continued Welch. "She is a very driven student athlete - both on the basketball floor and in the classroom."
