Who said you can't go home again?
2007 KVCC Alumni Saturday.
In a
theme that the current year Lady Cougars hope will be evident, the more youthful
team prevailed in the end in the 2007 version of the annual alumni game played
at Cougar Arena. As the young group of Cougars looked on, the "elder" blue
team battled a significantly younger white team to a two point deficit at half
time, but couldn't continue the pace and the white team pulled away steadily in
the second half.
A total of 18 players joined in the festivities
of the day and the current team sat amazed at the competitive nature and skill
level of the former players and began to have an even clearer picture of why
such a strong tradition has been established in the Lady Cougar program.
"What a wonderful day!" proclaimed Coach Welch.
"It was great to see so many of the former players again and I was really
impressed with how they played. We had players from our first couple
teams 10-11 years ago and we were so pleased that Cindy Smith who played here in
1980 joined us also. She is the mother of current Cougar Kirsten Smith.
My goodness were they competitive. Made me proud
all over again to have them play here and be a big part of building our
tradition."
