Women's Basketball Injury update: |
January 9, 2008:
Cougars Lose three to grades. Drisker to red-shirt.
For the first time in the career of Coach Ron Welch,
his basketball program has suffered more than one in season in-eligibility. "The
roster has changed pretty significantly," sighed a disappointed Welch.
"We'll be 'different', but I'm really proud of the ones that are still playing.
Their cumulative GPA is over a 3.4 and they are competing. I think we'll
get better as the kids adjust to the other ones not being here, but our margin
for error is not very big."
In addition, Battle Creek
Central guard, Terrica Drisker, who did not play in the first semester because
of some physical problems and an ankle injury in her second practice back, has
decided to save a year of eligibility. She continues to practice with the
team. "We could probably use 'little one'," said Coach Welch, "But it
makes a lot of sense for her to get completely healthy, get her academics in
order and come back strong next year."
