February 20, 2008: 
The NJCAA names Cougar sophomore, Shannon Dumond, Player of the Week.

     For the first time in the distinguished history of Kalamazoo Valley athletics, one of their athletes has been chosen by the NJCAA National office as Division II women's basketball Player of the Week. The honor was for the week ending February 16, 2008.  "What a wonderful thing for Shannon," said a pleased and proud Cougar Coach, Ron Welch.  "We are obviously very proud of her for not only having a fine week last week, but also for the leadership she has shown, along with Jessica Sanders, with this young team. We've got a lot of great kids, but this couldn't have happened to a finer young lady!  Her teammates are really proud of her and she knows that this wouldn't have happened without them."
