Women's Basketball Press Release: |
March 10, 2008:
Grand Rapids Press names Tracy Little "Coach of the Year".
In just her first year as a varsity coach, former KVCC
player and graduate Tracy Little has accomplished something that many will never
have the opportunity to experience. Her Comstock Park team went 18-3 on
the season and won the OK Blue Conference Championship - they did it by taking
care of the "Little" things. Sorry about the pun!
"Even as an undergraduate at Kalamazoo Valley, Tracy
was always a detail person." commented Cougar Coach Ron Welch. "She was
one of the first gals we recruited and was a really good player. You could
tell by her work ethic and attitude that she was going to be successful at
whatever it was she wanted to do." Little was also in the Honors program
at KVCC and was one of the first Academic All-Americans during Welch's term at
Valley.
"We had a chance to get up and watch one of Comstock
Park's games during the season and we were really impressed with how they
played." continued Welch. "They were structured and focused you could tell
they had been well drilled, but they were also having fun doing what they were
doing. I think all of that is a tribute to a very good young coach.
We are VERY proud of her."
