LADY COUGARS LOOK FORWARD TO THE START OF PRACTICE

Since the first week of school the latest pride of Lady Cougars have been hard at work.  Weight room.  Conditioning. Hitting the books. Plyometrics in the pool. Learning about each other in open gym. Building team.

So What's next?

"At this point I think everyone - players and coaches - are chomping at the bit to get started." reported Coach Welch. "We've been able to do some teaching during 4 person workouts (all that's allowed by NJCAA rules), but we'll get down to business on the seventh.  It's been pretty intense for some of them with all the stuff that they've had to 'endure' with our pre-season strength and conditioning program that produces results but also a lot of sore muscles for a while.  I'm impressed with the leadership of our returning players and the determination of the freshmen.  They have shown a lot of toughness already."

In addition to 12 freshmen players, the Cougar coaching staff welcomes back former assistant coach Shannon Wonnacott after an absence of two years.  " Shannon brings ten years of experience with this staff and a strong female presence." Said Welch.  "Having played at this level and beyond, she really connects with the gals."  Wonnacott played for the Cougars in the mid eighties and then for Nazareth College.
