BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS
This course offers a systematic approach to background investigations which will
assist in making informed hiring decisions. Law enforcement has striven for
professionalism; however, abuses by officers have provided a negative impact. An
examination of the past behavior of some involved officers reveals that a
pattern of undesirable behavior existed prior to appointment as a police
official. This behavior was unknown to the hiring agency due to inadequate or
non-existent applicant screening. This 12-hour course will be presented by Ward
& Associates. |

preserve and recover critical, often overlooked, fragile crime scene evidence.
The officer will also learn how to photograph a scene with the equipment their
police department owns, and with the limitations of their department’s camera.
The course will also talk about courtroom testimony, and the “CSI Effect”.

This one-day class is the follow-up class to Crimes Involving Computers Part I,
allowing frontline officers to use the knowledge and skills they were taught in
the Part I class. Part II is a completely practical chance for student to apply

will be required to write search warrants and to understand the information
returned to them from the execution of the search warrant. Each student will be
given several fictitious cases where the crimes have already been reported to a
patrol officer. The student will act as detectives and will be required to
identify, seek, and obtain additional information needed to complete the
investigation. Students will seek also utilize on-line resources to aid in
their investigations. At the conclusion of their investigation the student
detectives will be required to write a complete report and to request the
appropriate charges from the prosecutor. |

PPCT
INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
This 40 hour PPCT
Defensive Tactics recertification course is the first subject control system
developed through tactical, legal, and medical research. Tactically, the system
addresses the most common types of resistance officers encounter, allowing the
instructor to maximize training on job related techniques. Legally, the PPCT
System teaches a simple use of force continuum which clarifies the appropriate
force level for every level of resistance. Medical research was conducted on
every PPCT technique to refine technique efficiency and to ensure the medical
implications were proportional to the level of resistance. |
