Respiratory Care Program

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for admission to the Respiratory Care Program a student must:

1. Submit an admissions application to Kalamazoo Valley Community College listing Pre-Respiratory Care as the program choice.

2. Provide the Admissions Office with an official:

   1. high school transcript or GED test scores indicating high school graduate equivalency;

   2. college transcript from all previous colleges attended, if applicable.

3. Students must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 or greater

4. Be at least 18 years of age.

5. Students must achieve college level reading via successful completion of the Compass Reading Assessment. Compass scores in writing and mathematics must also be at an acceptable level. Placement scores can not generally be waived by any coursework.  Minimum COMPASS scores are:

• Reading – 80

• Writing – 70

•  Math – 44 (Test I - Pre-Algebra)

6. Complete the course prerequisite requirements by:
   1. using transfer courses from other colleges when equivalent to the courses listed
   2. taking and completing KVCC courses successfully.
